Conditions of hire

Deposit

$1,000 – N.B. DOUBLE BOND FOR NON-MIXED GROUPS

This deposit/Bond is required at the time of booking to secure your booking.

Full Hire fee payable 6 weeks prior to the commencement of hire.


Security bond

Your deposit becomes the security bond on arrival. At the completion of your holiday your boat is checked, and your bond is refunded after inspection approx 7 - 10 days after hire. The following charges will be deducted from your bond as operating costs of the houseboat;

  • Fuel usage - charged at the cost of fuel at the time.
  • Gas charges – Summer fee $85/ Winter fee $125 (May - Nov)
  • Cost of repair or replacement of any equipment damaged or lost during the hire.
  • If vessel is returned in significantly poor condition, e.g, excess dirt/mud, overly dirty, Food and poor condition etc, an additional cleaning fee of $500 will charged.

Commencement of hire

All hiring commences at 3 p.m. on the first day your occupancy commences and concludes  at 10 a.m. on the day your occupancy terminates. You will need to be out the front of the Marina at 9:30am and vacate the boat immediately following the completion of docking.

Any request for an earlier hire start can only be confirmed on the of the day prior before your hire commences.


Insurance details

Our insurance policy has an excess of $3,000. The insurance does not cover the Hirer for the following:

  1. Damage caused while operating the boat under the influence of alcohol.
  2. Negligence.
  3. Wilful damage.


Cancellation policy

We understand things can happen, however we want the boat to be available for as many customers as possible. Therefore we ask that if you need to cancel you do as quickly as you can. A few things can happen.

  • Transfer the deposit to a booking in the future so you can still enjoy the your houseboat adventure.
  • If a booking is cancelled with 60 days notice, a full refund will be offered.
  • Any cancellation inside 60 days, we will immediately try to help it to be re-booked, including communication to our waiting list.
  • If the boat is not re-booked, 25% of the initial hire cost will be charged.

Fuel

Period of hire is commenced with a full tank of fuel and fuel used from the boats tank is to  be deducted from the security deposit on termination, plus standard gas charge. The boat is NOT to be refueled by the hirer under any circumstances.

General operating conditions

  • There is to be NO OPERATION OF THE VESSEL IN THE DARK. This is a condition of your hire and any movement of the boat during non-daylight hours, will see your hire terminated immediately with no refunds. All Vessels are fitted with GPS tracking.
  • Upon collection of your vessel at the start of hire, all training and embarkment must be conducted and ready for departure to allow adequate time to be tied up 1 hour prior to sunset or you may be required to remain at the dock until the following morning.
  • There must be a minimum of two adults on boat the boat at all times during operation.
  • Maximum number of passengers per boat apply to comply with laws. Please ensure you disclose all passengers prior to hire commencing, if more passengers are detected on the boat, your hire will be cancelled immediately with no refunds.
  • Please ensure you lock the houseboat if you leave it unattended during your hire. There is no liability on behalf of the ‘Owners’ if the hirer loses any goods during the hire.
  • Any calls on the lake for a boat stuck on the bank, will be charged a callout cost of $200 per hour.
  • A 24/7 dedicated help line is available for any questions during your hire or help required.
  • We do not expect Hirers to make minor claims for malfunctions of equipment beyond our control.
  • Please note that poor weather conditions is not a reason for cancellation or refund.
